What are Pearly Penile Papules

They’re small bumps on the periphery of the penis glans. They are often a cause of worry and anxiety for many men. Fortunately, this is not a disease and the papules are not contagious. And most importantly, we can effectively remove them. Papules and other growths can be confused with viral and condylomas, and therefore the final diagnosis should be made by an experienced physician.

Are papules a disease and should they be treated?

No, pearly penile papules are not lesions and therefore do not require treatment. However, the fact that they occur only in some men, whereas in others do not, makes them somehow distinct. It is only natural that we want to get rid of this distinctness and look “normal”. The decision is individual – there are no absolute indications for their removal – unless it is suspected that they are viral condylomas.

Are the papules contagious?

No, pearly penile papules are not caused by viruses or bacteria – they cannot be transmitted by touch or sexual contact. On the other hand, condylomata, similar, whitish growths in the genital area, caused by the papillomavirus (HPV) are contagious.

Are pearly papules the same as Fordyce Spots

No, papules occur on the glans of a penis, while milia are seborrheic lesions that occur on the skin of a penis and scrotum.

Do pearly penile papules grow back?

No, the papules do not grow back after laser removal and the warranty is permanent

Pearly papules are unlikely to disappear on their own, but as they grow older there may be more of them

Can I remove papules myself with tea tree oil?

I advise against making your own home attempts to remove papules with different specifics. This is usually ineffective and you can also hurt yourself.
